How M-Pesa works on Shopeak
When a customer checks out, we trigger a Safaricom STK push — that green pop-up asking them to enter their M-Pesa PIN. The entire flow takes under 8 seconds.
Behind the scenes, Shopeak uses the Safaricom Daraja 2.0 API to initiate, confirm, and reconcile every transaction automatically.
STK push vs. C2B: which does Shopeak use?
| Feature | STK Push | C2B (manual) |
|---|---|---|
| Customer experience | One tap → PIN prompt | Customer opens M-Pesa app manually |
| Conversion rate | ~78% completion | ~45% completion |
| Reconciliation | Instant — matched to order | Manual matching needed |
Shopeak uses STK push by default because it nearly doubles your conversion rate.
Settlement and payouts
- Instant withdrawal — to your M-Pesa within 30 seconds.
- Daily auto-sweep — sends your balance at 6 PM EAT every day.
- Weekly settlement — better for cash-flow planning.
Fees and charges
Shopeak charges a flat 3.5% per successful transaction. This covers Daraja API fees, fraud screening, reconciliation, and customer receipts. No monthly fees, no setup fees.
